Morpheus data, the entity behind the Morpheus cloud application management and orchestration platform, announced native integration with Microsoft Hyper-V on Morpheus versions 2.7.2 and above. The new version would be an important step in creating a true agnostic infrastructure platform for distributed systems.
Morpheus users can now take advantage of the centralized management of multiple Hyper-V hosts and machines, in addition to existing support for most popular hypervisors, containers, and clouds.
Hyper-V integration are rare among modern cloud management platforms because Hyper-V is not typical Web REST API . Integrations require the use of PowerShell scripts to deploy to bare metal. Rising customer requests led the Morpheus team to invest time and resources in building native integration. Integration is now fully deployed and ready for production on all new Morpheus built.
low cost and compatibility of the Hyper-V with Microsoft Azure are driving an increase in interest, according to data Morpheus, but VMware ESXi still dominates the business market hypervisor. As a result, many customers currently running Microsoft Windows servers in a VMware environment. Although this method is effective, it is not the most effective solution on the operational plan. Windows Server users would be able to achieve significant savings by switching to a Hyper-V native environment.
"The new Hyper-V integration will allow more customers to truly unlock their hybrid clouds," said Pete Beecher, president of Morpheus data. "We can save the customer million in licensing costs alone, but we are also helping them get the most out of their cloud and infrastructure than ever thought possible. As more customers move to hybrid clouds, it will be essential to have a platform for managing distributed systems across a heterogeneous infrastructure. Hyper-V integration is a reality for many customers. "
