Zetta.net, a cloud backup enterprise-class provider of disaster recovery and archiving solution for small / medium enterprises and managed service providers (MSP) announced the issuance of four patents by the office of US patents. These patents cover systems and methods for delivering direct fast recovery to the cloud backup and disaster as a service (DRaaS).
The four patents optimize efficiency and performance to accelerate cloud backup, recovery and DRaaS directly to / from the cloud. The patents cover certain systems and methods behind the approach of providing Zetta.net directly fastest cloud backup, disaster recovery and DRaaS.
"We wanted to design a better backup and recovery solution by developing technologies and capabilities that are specifically designed to take advantage of optimized WAN cloud," said Chris Schin, vice president of products, Zetta.net . "These patents validate our direct approach to the cloud that allows customers to simplify backups, the overall costs and enable faster, more efficient backups and restores.
The four patents for Faster Direct-to cloud backup, DR and DRaaS capabilities:
- The 8,977,594 patent for the state consistent replication - this patent defines how the initial data set is reproduced in its native file format to a virtual volume creating a mirror copy of customer data in the cloud, making them easier recoveries via a mounted drive, web browser or local storage
- the 8,977,596 patent is for the backup using change detection distributed locally -. Local signing cached contains a manifest file system. This allows to compare the current state of local data against the server-side data, without crossing the network to detect changed files enabling quick change detection.
- The 9,015,122 patent is to minimize network bandwidth for replication / backup - Deputy file was modified block detection is used to determine the blocks that change in a file then patch these changes in the existing version of the file in order to transmit the least amount of data possible when a file does not change
- the 8,977,598 patent is for online backup and disaster recovery with local copy -. This patent provides the ability to store a local copy of the replicated data, and use this local copy as base for restorations; restoring a version based on the cloud involves patching only data differences between this version and the local copy, which reduces network traffic for rapid recovery.
