German web hosting company Hetzner operator and data center online invests in 1,100 km of cable long high Rostock sea to the capital of Finland, Helsinki. The fiber optic link will be commissioned in spring 2016. Preparations for the cable system implementation started with surveys routing and the sea.
has Hetzner Online signed a contract with the Finnish cinia Group Ltd. connectivity provider for the acquisition of a submarine cable that will provide the first direct cable connection between continental Europe and the Nordic region. Finland is geographically well located and is one of the most important connections between Eastern and Western Europe.
The web hosting company will use part of the fiber optic cable for fast and secure connectivity to their [present data centers to Scandinavian countries in the future, thus taking greater control over the quality of its data transmission.
the whole system will provide a total transmission capacity of 15 terabits per second and will play a key role in providing reliable and secure broadband connections for hosting cloud applications and data centers .
Given its very favorable climate and low energy prices, Finland is also interesting to Hetzner Online as a possible location of the data center.

"the new sea cable provides Hetzner Online with high throughput and latency-optimized connection between a future location of the data center in the Nordic region and the Central European Internet infrastructure in Frankfurt."
