last week ChefConf 2015, chef and Canonical - the company behind Ubuntu - announced today a partnership to integrate and distribute head with Ubuntu. Canonical integrated platform automation Chef with Canonical Machine-As-A-Service (MAAS), which allows users to automate the provisioning, configuration and deployment of bare metal servers.
Canonical Chief packs 12 server distributions ahead of its open source operating system Ubuntu and provide commercial support for the leader within its base of users.
Leverage head and MAAS Canonical, users would be able to rapidly deploy bare metal servers with a choice of Ubuntu, CentOS, RHEL, SuSE and even Windows or in the data center or as part of a private implementation or hybrid cloud. This integration allows users to optimize the configurations of the machine and the workload for the different scenarios seamlessly.
"Head and Ubuntu are often inseparable in severe server deployments, making mutual integration a must for our users," said Mark Shuttleworth, founder of Canonical . " We are delighted to offer the head as part of the Ubuntu distribution and providing easy supply of bare metal with MAAS and Chief. "
