Oracle President and CTO, Larry Ellison, has introduced more than a dozen new Oracle Cloud services and capabilities in the opening keynote presentation at Oracle OpenWorld 2015 Moscone Center in San Francisco
Ellison described six design objectives for Oracle Cloud: .. cost, reliability, performance, standards, compatibility and security
"on-premises computing is not going away," said Executive Chairman Oracle and CTO Larry Ellison . "Even if the local computer eventually becomes a piece of the pie that computers smaller cloud, there will be a long transition period. We are based on standards, and because we are consistent - our cloud is compatible with what you have on the site - it is very easy to lift and move. . It is very easy to take the workload that you already have, the databases that you already have, and move them to the cloud "
Oracle Advances Cloud highlighted by Larry Ellison include
- A new discrete sequence of manufacturing as part of Oracle SCM Cloud
- E-commerce in Oracle CX Cloud to enable business-to-consumer commerce
- Exadata cloud service based on high-performance Exadata Database machine Oracle
- modern user interface, mobile-friendly for SaaS applications
- Oracle Database mutualised cover scales to over 4,000 pluggable databases
- Real Application Clusters (RAC) in the cloud, fault-tolerant database availability in the cloud
- database memory accelerator to accelerate join performance, expressions, and JSON scanning and filtering
- memory database active data Guard
- Java Server pooled, high density, low cost the secure cloud platform
- Fault-Tolerant Java Server, continued availability and seamless deployment into multiple data centers
- Big data preparation, Discovery and cloud visualization services
Larry Ellison has also demonstrated a new learning just-in-time system that will be available in Software-as-a-service (SaaS) Oracle applications.
"we went into the SaaS business, and came to understand that forced us to be in the company of the platform," added Ellison . "And we went to the deck area and came to understand that we must be in infrastructure-as-a-Service company. That's how we got where we are today."
