dE-CIX, one of the main Internet exchange operators in the world whose headquartered in Frankfurt am Main (Germany), has enhanced its flagship Apollo Internet exchange in Frankfurt with powerful new 7950 XRS-40 routing systems Alcatel-Lucent.
XRS-40 Alcatel-Lucent system combines two chassis XRS-20 return -retourner. This will allow DE-CIX to aggregate more customers on a single edge router and maintain Internet exchange (IX), the local traffic within the data center. This will also reduce the amount of traffic that must be routed through the base nodes Apollo, which are based on XRS-20 platforms, keeping low latency and manageable data flow in a market that is growing rapidly.
first deployment in Europe
This installation by dE-CIX is the first deployment of the XRS-40 routing system Alcatel-Lucent outside North America and is designed to increase the density and scalability of the exchange, which continues to add capacity to better serve customers. DE-CIX has added over 80 new customers its Apollo platform this year, with the number of customers and the ports exchange more.
"This is the first XRS- 40 implemented in Europe, which is designed to provide increased capacity, simplify management and maintain high availability for the dE-CIX team" said Basil Alwan, president of IP routing and transport division of Alcatel-Lucent . "the XRS-40 will allow dE-CIX to grow in the coming years."
the XRS-40 is highly space and energy efficient. A XRS-40 now offers up to 0 x 100 Gigabit Ethernet (GE) ports or 10 x 10GE ports. DE-CIX has deployed the first XRS-40 system October 1, 2014, and extend this configuration to multiple data centers in the metropolitan area of Frankfurt.
