Equinix to build new data centers in London and Melbourne, is investing $ 139 million -

Colocation and interconnection global provider, Equinix, will build a new data center in its called LD6 London Slough campus. With $ 79 million invested in capital expenditures, the first phase is scheduled for the first half of 2015. In addition, Equinix intends to invest approximately $ 60M to build a new data center in Melbourne, called ME1.

the new LD6 data center will provide a total capacity of approximately 8,000 square meters (86,000 square feet, 2,770 cabinet equivalents). The first phase will provide an initial capacity of 1,385 colocation cabinets.

Equinix announced the new data center facility built in response to a constant demand of customers in financial services, content, cloud and enterprise segments. Once LD6 is complete, the Equinix London Slough campus will provide more than 36,000 square meters (388,000 square feet) of space net premium colocation. Located in Port Melbourne, ME1 Equinix data center "will provide colocation capacity of 1,500 cabinets, with the first phase of 375 cabinets to be completed in Q4 2014. Equinix will build a building envelope 105,000 sq ft purpose built ME1 house the new data center and enable future development.

Melbourne is a hub for software companies with the state of Victoria accounting for nearly a quarter of the economy of Australia. The ME1 "International Business Exchange (IBX)" data center will allow customers to existing Equinix to grow in the second largest market in Australia offering business connectivity opportunities in Asia Pacific and through a global footprint of Equinix.
