Verizon Communications Inc. (NYSE, Nasdaq: VZ), headquartered in New York, announced Verizon Cloud, its newly developed Infrastructure-as-a-service cloud (IaaS) hosting platform and cloud storage service objects. It would provide greater flexibility in the choice of options regarding the virtual servers, the network performance and the storage configuration.
With this service, Verizon says it fundamentally changes how public clouds are built. The new Verizon cloud has two main components: Verizon Cloud Compute and Verizon Cloud Storage. Verizon Cloud Compute is the IaaS platform. Verizon Cloud Storage is a storage service based objects.
Verizon Cloud Compute is built for speed and performance. Virtual servers (computers based on software and the underlying servers) can be created and deployed in seconds, and users to build and pay for what they need. Verizon Cloud Storage is an object-addressable, the shared platform of storage that allow a safe and cost-effective storage accessible from anywhere on the web.

We took feedback from our customers to the company throughout the world and built a new cloud platform from the bottom up to provide the attributes they need. "
Verizon Cloud Compute and Verizon Cloud Storage is installed in the data center in Culpeper, Va., Englewood, Colorado, Miami. Santa Clara, Calif.; and Amsterdam, London and Sao Paolo. Initially, customers will be served on the Culpeper data center with other centers worldwide should be added in mid-2014.

Access Verizon and Verizon Cloud Compute Cloud Storage will be initially limited to a few hundred new users per month. Customers waiting for their turn are welcomed in the Verizon Cloud Insider program, which will allow them to be kept up to date on the availability of features and other enhancements as they occur.
Verizon will optimize the customer experience through the launch of a public beta program for Verizon Cloud this quarter. Interested companies with either Verizon or Verizon Cloud Compute Cloud Storage can sign up to be a beta customer on the website of Verizon Enterprise Solutions. The registration experience and customer service is managed entirely online.
