CenturyLink, a global communication, hosting, cloud and IT services, has added a new infrastructure-as-a-service ( IaaS) cloud offering known as CenturyLink government cloud to its hybrid portfolio of iT services.
cloud CenturyLink government would bring together the best of public, hybrid and private cloud investments agencies to migrate seamlessly and expand their data center workloads to the cloud while meeting federal safety standards. By providing cloud, colocation and managed hosting services in its class of network operator CenturyLink provide government agencies with security and reliability they need to complete their missions.
The cloud service is now available to federal agencies via General Services Administration (GSA) Networx contract CenturyLink and is scheduled to be available on other GSA contracts.
FedRAMP
With VMware vCloud Air Network Managed Services Provider Model, CenturyLink uses government services VMware vCloud. This product IaaS is accredited under the federal program and risk management authorization (FedRAMP), meaning it meets the stringent safety standards of the government.

FedRAMP is a risk management framework across government that provides a standardized approach to security assessment, authorization and monitoring to products and cloud services . Managed by the GSA, the program was designed to provide a cost effective approach based on risks to the adoption and use of cloud services from the federal government.
