IBM SoftLayer announced the immediate availability of new metal servers naked that are deployed in less than 30 minutes and charged by the hour. These offers for bare metal servers provide the raw performance of physical servers with shorter commitments, making it easier to deploy IT workloads on SoftLayer intensive at will.
The new hourly- rate of bare metal servers are servers single tenant connecting directly to the private global network of SoftLayer. This network provides seamless integration between data centers without charge for additional network bandwidth and unlimited inter-data center.
The new schedules bare metal configurations are available immediately in global SoftLayer data centers in Dallas, San Jose, Washington DC, London, Toronto, Amsterdam, Singapore and Hong Kong.

customers can choose from four basic configurations with CentOS, Red Hat, Ubuntu or FreeBSD operating system installed. The basic configuration is deployed within 30 minutes, after which the bare metal server can be customized with additional applications or OS installations. Additional basic configurations for bare metal servers schedule will be available in the coming months.
