StorPool storage, a distributed storage software provider, based in Sofia, Bulgaria, has announced integration with OpenStack ( Cinder). The integration works as an add-on with Icehouse and Juno releases. It supports all the features required Cinder and allow the storage block level fast, reliable and scalable.
StorPool converts severs standard x86 systems in high-end storage and serves to replace specialized storage area networks (SAN) or other storage software who do not have the performance or the desired characteristics. Compared to other storage solutions "software-defined" StorPool provide very high performance (in terms of IOPS MB / s), extreme efficiency (running the storage and calculation on the same nodes, practically) scalability and simplicity.
"StorPool has redesigned the entire storage stack from scratch," said Boyan Ivanov, co-founder and CEO of StorPool . "Accordingly, we have created a highly reliable scalable and efficient solution fully distributed storage. StorPool takes minimal resources of each server, thereby using the same server for both the storage and computation. In addition , StorPool offers advanced storage features such as thin provisioning, snapshots and clones, prioritization, caching, QoS (Quality of Service), among others. "
StorPool aims to include in OpenStack version Kilo as well.
