DreamHost, a provider of web hosting and cloud hosting services, has chosen Brookwood data center ViaWest in the Portland area to support the customer base in expanding the business. The Brookwood ViaWest facility, which opened this month, will include 138,000 square feet of raised floor space and is the third ViaWest data center in Oregon.
Founded in 1997, DreamHost is based in Los Angeles and provides web hosting and cloud hosting services to over 400,000 customers. The company has decided to consolidate its two data centers and move their roommate outside of California, in an effort to reduce overhead costs while increasing operational efficiency.
"We wanted to focus our internal resources on product development rather than maintaining our data centers," said Patrick Lane, vice president, data center operations DreamHost . "Passing the Brookwood ViaWest plant, we will be able to achieve significant, double-digit percentage cost savings."
Brookwood ViaWest data center is designed to . be fault tolerant once completed, the facility will provide:
- 700+ Watts / Sq Ft availability of high density capacity
- 18 MW redundant.. UPS capacity
- high security with 24 × 7 access card key with secondary biometric authentication, security and access to six areas
- Double standard SSAE 16 and ISAE 3402 Control service Organization (SOC) 1Type II, SOC 2 Type II and SOC 3 reports
- 100% availability service Level Agreement for power, network bandwidth and services
